Getting Settled

The physical move has been full of ups and downs.  After a couple weeks of helping sort and pack, I rented the a moving truck from Budget.  A few people offered to help me drive and I poo-pooed them all.  There is nothing I cannot do, right?!  Wrong!  My anxiety levels skyrocketed as I drove through Omaha.  I thought, "If I change lanes and don't see a car, I could kill someone!"  An intimidating thought.  Thankfully, my brother-in-law, Jay, was willing to drive the truck to Hawaii (with some help from my sister, Denise).  I drove their car.  I had the better end of the deal, by far.  I will say, though, driving to Kentucky without Cruise Control is much harder on the body than driving with Cruise Control!

We made a number of stops along the way to stretch our legs (and fill the gas tank!)  The weather cooperated - for a while - and we got to have lunch outside at a lovely rest area.

Friday night and Saturday we met Tropical Storm Bill.  I did not expect Kentucky to greet me with a tropical storm!  The rain was intense and we drove past many cars who had hydroplaned right off the highway.  We were very thankful for safe passage.  The rain continued as we unpacked the boxes, soaking us to the bone.  A couple from our new church showed up to help us move the heavier items (especially the piano).  We prayed the rain would stop before we moved the furniture.  Sure enough, the rain had completely stopped by the time we got to that part of the truck!

Originally, my sisters, Donna and Deanna, were going to make the trip to help us move but some things came up last minute.  Since they could not come, they gave cash so we could pay someone to help us move.  Turns out the couple who helped us hasn't had a paycheck in two months.  Everyone got some of the blessing! There is no way that we would have gotten that piano in without help!

While we had a truck full of stuff, but we did not have a couch.  That was going to change before the day was over. My Mom's pastor and his wife were in town for her nieces graduation.  She had no plans to move her couch and, before I knew what was happening, Denise and Jay had taken the truck to her apartment, loaded the couch, and brought it over!  To make things even better, I love the color!

This picture does not do it justice.  It is green - kind of a cross between emerald and forest with dots of color scattered throughout.  It doesn't quite match Mom's blue chair . . . .

I had a few break downs before the day was over.  Faith was weak.  (To be continued . . .)
