On the other hand, I am moving forward toward the Bluegrass season. I have completed three phone interviews, two of which sound promising. Things with my potential supervisor are also progressing. I meet with her on June 4th to solidify our contract - it has to be completed and turned in by June 8th in order to be approved in June. She is also working to set up a meeting between her boss and me to see about office rental and insurance coverage (apparently that will be an option in KY). She told me that she thinks she can keep me busy with referrals even if I do not take a 2nd part time job. We shall see how it all falls into place. Now to find a place to live . . . . :-)
Right now I am in the 'tween time. I have been in Sun City, AZ for the past week and a half. Here are some of the highlights from the trip:
Once settled, I decided to go for a walk to check out my surroundings. It is undeniably desert here but people found creative ways to beautify their surroundings, all the same. This was my favorite yard.
My dad and Daria attend the Community of Christ church here in Sun City. I knew that it would be a different experience - probably no worship team singing Jesus Culture or Chris Tomlin. We sang from a hymnal - which was mostly helpful, as I can sightread music. This song, however, had no time signature. Now, this was not a simple omission. Nope. The measures literally had different numbers of beats in them. Clearly this was a song that was sung by ear before written on a staff. Also interesting, they were ordaining their first lesbian as a deacon. Interesting day . . .
I went out on another walk to explore. I found water!! Not an easy feat in the desert. I am so happy the Lexington is surrounded by streams and rivers - lots of water. I. Need. Water.
Bell Rock near Sedona. It just draws the eye.
The red rocks area is beautiful!
For the spiritually sensitive among you, traveling from the valley (Phoenix area) to Sedona was quite an experience. The closer we got to Sedona, the more alive I felt. It was as if these rocks had stories to tell. I haven't been able to connect to the "stories" in the valley.
There are rumors about who owns this mansion near the Holy Cross chapel but no one seems to know for sure . . . . shouldn't that be public record?? :-)
I shall sign off for now. If you received this blog via email, please let me know. I want to make sure that option is working correctly. ;-)

I used to visit az regularly. Pretty barren. Hot. Not a hospitable place for a bald Irish guy from Iowa ;-)
